【買付時商品説明英文】
'A la ville de Crmonne D:Nicolas aine' iron mark Beautiful old violin acquired from a private French violin collector. This violin is very elegant with a beautiful dark yellow varnish on an orange undercoat. The violin has no damage to the sound post, but has been restored with varnish from the time of the 'insect bite' on the scroll (proof of an ORIGINAL piece?) and has some flaking. The corners are typical old violin, the wood is beautiful, the varnish is excellent and the head is very beautifully arched! Length of body back: 36.2 cm. typical French violin length, the highest in the 'soloist grade' Paul Mangenot workshop, as you can see from the catalogue at the time.

This luthier was born in 1862 in Mirecourt into an instrument-making family (his father was an organ builder, and his grandfather and elder brother were luthiers). He died in 1941 at his home in Mirecourt. A pupil of Paul Bailly, he went on to work for Joseph Hel in Lille, Collin Mzin in Paris, and in Lyon and Geneva. In 1890, he took over from Justin Derazey and set up shop in Mirecourt at 24, Faubourg Saint Vincent, under the name “A la ville de Crmone”. In 1899, he joined forces with L Pronier, about whom little is known. He sold his name to the Laberte firm in 1928, along with all the brands resulting from the Derazey takeover. For a time, he was the custodian of the Schnbach wood merchant Joseph Sandner. Paul Alexandre Mangenot's nickname was “Le Zon”.

His pupils and workers were numerous. They include Charles Bailly, Paul Jean-Baptiste Chipot, Georges Defat, Pierre Gauti, Emile Kritzler, Franois Guinot, Andr Morel and Emile Jeandat, (the latter three were also his sons-in-law), Joseph Eugne Langonet, Paul Victor Lorange, Jules Merciolle, and his own sons Ren and Albert Michel, both of whom died on the front in 1914. He also trained his youngest son Paul Amati, born in 1901, who moved to Bordeaux.
His other workers included Franois Xavier Antoine, Pierre Gauthi, Marie Josphine Jeandel, Louis Auguste Lagarenne, Charles Mangin, Andr Lon Charles Pierre, Gaston Henry Schneider, Edmond Andr Serdet, Claude Emile Claudel, Franois Charles Guinot, Louis Marie Huel, Emile Louis Auguste Mourot, Charles Bailly, Charles Nicolas Bonnard, Eugne Boulanger, Louis Joseph Poirson, Franois and Antoine Vinot.

このLuthierは1862年、ミレクールの楽器製作の家系に生まれた（父はオルガン製作者、祖父と兄もLuthier）。1941年、ミレクールの自宅で死去。ポール・バイリーの弟子であった彼は、リールのジョゼフ・ヘル、パリのコリン・メザン、そしてリヨンとジュネーブで働く。ジャスティン・デラゼイの後を継ぎ、1890年、ミレクールのフォーブル・サン・ヴァンサン24番地に「A la ville de Crmonnne」の屋号で店を構える。1899年、L・プロニエとパートナーシップを結ぶ。1928年、ラベルテ社に自分の名前を売却し、デラゼー社の買収によって生まれたすべてのブランドも売却した。一時期、彼はシェーンバッハの木材商ヨーゼフ・サンドナーの管理人であった。ポール・アレクサンドル・マンジェノのニックネームは「ル・ゾン」。

他にも、フランソワ・グザヴィエ・アントワーヌ、ピエール・ゴーティエ、マリー・ジョゼフィーヌ・ジャンデル、ルイ・オーギュスト・ラガレンヌ、シャルル・マンガン、アンドレ・レオン・シャルル・ピエール、ガストン・アンリ・シュナイダー、エドモン・アンドレ・セルデ、クロード・エミール・クローデル、フランソワ・シャルル・ギノ、ルイ・マリー・ユエル、エミール・ルイ・オーギュスト・ムーロ、シャルル・バイリー、シャルル・ニコラ・ボナール、ウジェーヌ・ブーランジェ、ルイ・ジョセフ・ポワルソン、フランソワ・ヴィノ、アントワーヌ・ヴィノなどがいる。
1992年にコルマールで開催された独仏会議でローラン・テリエが行った商標に関する講演における「 la ville de Crmone」の標識の歴史も参照のこと。
